Ktichen Reno - Part Two

Kitchen Inspiration

There were many many many inspiration photos. But I will spare you. I have a folder on my computer titled "Ideas" and in this folder are exactly 13 subfolders, each one named after a room or area of the house, each one filled with photos of furniture, organizing tricks, or design ideas. So out of the 57 kitchen photos, I chose three.

Kitchen One

Kitchen Two

Kitchen Three

Out of all this kitchen-soul-searching I discovered a trend of things I was drawn to. Next came the list:

-Paint color - since moving in I had painted the kitchen a beautiful shade of blue (Almost identical to the blue in Kitchen Two). That stays. We still had paint leftover, so we had plenty to repaint or touch up as needed.

-Cabinets - I was drawn to white cabinets, but didn't want anything to sterile or "builder basic" looking. I really like a white wash cabinet so that there is a slight wood grain visible.

-Appliances - Stainless Steel appliances for my wanna-be chef heart? Check! Bought those when we first moved into the house.

-Countertops - Hubby wanted black granite. Wasn't in the budget, but maybe in the future. I have always loved the look of butcher block and the idea that the enitre countertop could serve as a cutting board? (My wanna-be-a-chef heart beats faster). Hubby said (all you men out there, this is what you say to your wives) "Whatever make you happy babe". I have such a wonderful husband.

-Sink - I knew I wanted a big sink but wasn't sure exactly what kind, one or two sections, stainless steel or white... so many options, until I stumbled across this sucker in the As-Is section at IKEA.

Brand spanking new, still in the box? Yessirr! That was coming home with me at a sweet 60% off! Thank you maam! I now had a huge sink that was b-e-a-utiful.

-Flooring - I am sad to say, it has to stay. It is a basic tile, but eventually we will replace it with wood to match the rest of the house. Just not in the budget for this renovation.

Stay tuned. There is more to come. =D
